It has become clear who will be competing on Friday, as riders and horses are set to compete in both speedpace and Tölt T1. The starting lists were just drawn live on ALENDIS. Last year's winner of speedpace, Konráð Valur Sveinsson, will be present with a different horse this time, namely Kastor frá Garðshorn á Þelamörk, who also won the pace test recently. Árni Björn and Kastanía frá Kvistum, last year's Tölt champions, are also registered this year, and we can expect a strong performance from them. Two combinations could secure an auction spot for the Tölt: Bergur Jónsson and Ljósálfur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum, as well as Fredrica Fagerlund and Stormur frá Yztafelli. This is a good addition to an already impressive starting list.

Now it's clear who will be competing on Saturday in the pace test and the 150m pace race, which will be broadcast live on ALENDIS. Last year’s winners of the pace test, Árni Björn Pálsson and Álfamær frá Prestsbæ, are registered, and we can expect a lot from that combination. The winner of last year's 150m pace race, Konráð Valur Sveinsson, will show up with a new horse this time, namely Kastor frá Garðshorni, and they will compete in both the pace test and the pace race. One combination secured an auction spot in the pace test, and that is Bjarni Sveinsson and Sturla frá Bærðratungu. This is a great addition to an otherwise very impressive group of riders and horses registered. One wildcard for Team Hestvit/Árbakki will compete in the pace test, and it will be interesting to see who the winners will be on Saturday!

The competition starts at 14:00 at Brávellir, the competition area of the horse club Sleipnir in Selfoss. We expect to meet most of you on-site! See you there!

Tonight, the fourth tournament of the Meistaradeild Líflands took place at HorseDay Höllin in Ingólfshvoll. The competition for the evening was Gæðingalist, and spectacular performances were anticipated. Five wildcards were registered and there was great excitement about their identities. While many expected to see last year's winner, Olil Amble, it was instead Bergur Jónsson for Sumarliðabær/Þjóðólfshagi, Arnhildur Helgadóttir for Hrímnir/Hest.is, Guðmunda Ellen Sigurðardóttir for Top Reiter, Elin Holst for Hjarðartún, and Þórarinn Eymundsson for Pula/Austurkot who appeared. Their presence certainly added to the excitement of the evening, with all these impressive riders competing.

Incredible performances could be witnessed from all riders. Ragnhildur Haraldsdóttir and Úlfur frá Mosfellsbæ led the competition for a considerable duration with a score of 8.13. However, Aðalheiður Anna Guðjónsdóttir and Flóvent frá Breiðstöðum delivered a truly impressive and well-executed presentation, catapulting themselves to the top and emerging as the winners of the Gæðingalist of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024. In second place were Ragnhildur and Úlfur frá Mosfellsbæ, followed by Jakob Svavar Sigurðsson and Skarpur frá Kýrholti with a score of 7.80. Glódís Rún Sigurðardóttir and Breki frá Austurási, along with Elin Holst and Frami frá Ketilsstöðum, shared fourth-fifth place with a score of 7.73, while Ásmundur Ernir Snorrason and Hlökkur frá Strandarhöfði secured sixth place with 7.57 points. As there were no finals, the scores from the preliminaries determined the rankings.

There are 5 wildcard entries for 5 different teams, indicating that most teams are looking outside their group to strengthen themselves for tonight. However, the identities of these competitors won't be revealed until they enter the track. Additionally, there is a pair who secured the auction spot, namely Hanne Smidesang with Tónn frá Hjarðartúni.

Apart from that, there are several other combinations registered, from which we can expect strong performances. Glódís Rún, currently leading the individual competition, undoubtedly intends to maintain her lead, while Jakob Svavar will strive to overtake her, being second in the individual competition at the moment. There may also be some surprises in store, with the wildcard entries expected to make a strong showing. Last year's winner, Olil Amble, appeared as a wildcard for team Hjarðartún. Perhaps she will surprise us again this year?

The starting list for Thursday's Five Gait of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024 is ready.

Among the registered horses is Landsmót winner Hrannar frá Flugumýri II, ridden by Eyrún Ýr Pálsdóttir. Additionally, two of his sons will also be competing: Steinar frá Stíghúsi, ridden by Flosi Ólafsson, and Eldur frá Mið-Fossum, ridden by Viðar Ingólfsson. One combination, Konráð Valur Sveinsson and Seiður frá Hólum, secured the auction spot. Two horses from last year's A-final are also registered: Eldur frá Mið-Fossum, ridden by Viðar Ingólfsson, and Nóta frá Flugumýri II, ridden by Teitur Árnason.

Last year's top three horses represented Iceland at the World Championships in the Netherlands, with two of them winning world champion titles: Salka frá Efri-Brú, ridden by Glódís Rún Sigurðardóttir, and Flóki frá Oddhóli, ridden by Sara Sigurbjörnsdóttir. Sara and Flóki emerged as winners in the challenging A-final of the Five Gait of Meistaradeild Líflands 2023.

It's now clear who will be competing in Thursday's Meistaradeild Líflands. The starting order was drawn live on ALENDIS earlier this evening. We're gearing up for a great competition featuring very talented horses and riders. Last year's winners, Aðalheiður and Flóvent, are among the registered participants, alongside the winners of the fourgait, Jakob and Skarpur frá Kýrholti. Additionally, two riders earned their spots through auction, Arnar Bjarki and Magni frá Ríp, as well as Rakel Sigurhansdóttir and Slæða frá Traðarholti. We'll also have a wildcard entry from team Ganghestar/Margrétarhof, which will be revealed on the evening of the competition.

The event starts at 19:00 on Thursday at HorseDay Höllin in Ingólfshvóll. Admission is free, courtesy of Horses of Iceland. Enjoy delicious refreshments and buffets available onsite before and during the competition. For those who pre-order at the buffet, a reserved seat in the stands will be included. ​Next up is the T2 competition at HorseDay Höllin in Ingólfshvoll, scheduled for Thursday, February 8th, starting at 19:00 Icelandic time. The T2 discipline has been gaining popularity in Meistaradeild, and we anticipate participation from many top tölters in the country. Last year, Aðalheiður Anna Guðjónsdóttir and Flóvent frá Breiðstöðum secured victory, and we can expect them to aim for another win this year.
 
This time, Horses of Iceland will be inviting guests to attend HorseDay Höllin free of charge. Veisluþjónusta Suðurlands will be offering a quality buffet onsite, along with other refreshments. Guests who pre-book at the buffet will also secure a reserved seat in the best location in the stands. Reservations can be made HERE, and for further inquiries, please contact [email protected]. It will be intriguing to see who will emerge as the winner this time! An enjoyable evening is guaranteed as the country's top riders compete for the title in Meistaradeild Líflands 2024.

The first competition of Meistaradeild Líflands took place in HorseDay Höllin tonight, Thursday 25th January. The season started with the fourgait. There was a great atmosphere here in the arena, conditions at the venue were excellent, and everyone, including riders and spectators, had a great experience.
Eyrún Ýr and Úlfur frá Hrafnagili were first in the track. This was followed by great performances, but after the preliminary round it were last year's winners Aðalheiður Anna and Flóvent frá Breiðstöðum who led the competition. In second place were Jakob Svavar and Skarpur frá Kýrholti with a score of 7.5. In third place were Ragnhildur Haraldsdóttir and Úlfur frá Mosfellsbæ, along with Glódís Rún and Breki frá Ásturási with a score of 7.37. Jóhanna Margrét and Kormákur frá Kvistum were in fourth place with a score of 7.33 and Gústaf Ásgeir and Assa frá Miðhúsum rounded out the top five with a score of 7.30.
These riders rode their way into the A-final that was even and exciting until the end. After the trot, Ragnhildur and Úlfur led, but after the walk Gústaf Ásgeir and Aðalheiður Anna were equal in the first place. Finally, it were Jakob Svavar Sigurðsson and Skarpur frá Kýrholti who emerged as the winners of the fourgait of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024.

Hestvit/Árbakki won the team competition with 53 points. The team had all their three riders in the final.
