 The final tournament of Meistaradeild Líflands 2025 took place in a packed HorseDay Arena at Ingólfshvoll on Friday, April 4th. With the last points of the season up for grabs, the tension was undeniable as the nation's top riders took the stage. Competitions were held in Tölt T1 and Flying Pace through the arena, with outcomes undecided until the final sprints of the evening. TÖLT: ÁSMUNDUR AND HLÖKK CLAIM VICTORY WITH A MAGNIFICENT PERFORMANCE Ásmundur Ernir Snorrason and Hlökk frá Strandarhöfði captivated both judges and spectators with a powerful and elegant performance. They secured a convincing win in the tölt with a score of 9.06, earning valuable points in the individual competition. Notably, this is the highest score ever awarded in Tölt in the history of Meistaradeild. In second place were Þorgeir Ólafsson and Aspar frá Hjarðartúni, delivering an impressive performance in their first competition with a score of 8.61. Third place went to Gústaf Ásgeir Hinriksson on the graceful Assa frá Miðhúsum, scoring 8.44. These outstanding tölt horses and riders truly set the tone for the evening. Team Sumarliðabær won the team competition in Tölt, leading the overall team standings with 290 points before the pace race. Hjarðartún held second place with 280.5 points, and Top Reiter was in third with 257 points.  In the individual standings, Ásmundur Ernir reclaimed the top spot with 51 points. Þorgeir was in second place with 43.5 points, and Eyrún Ýr, who led before the evening, moved to third place. With such close margins in both the individual and team competitions, it was clear that strong performances in the Flying Pace would determine the ultimate winners of Meistaradeild Líflands 2025. FLYING PACE: KONRÁÐ VALUR AND KASTOR SPEED TO VICTORY In the Flying Pace, split seconds separated the top riders. Konráð Valur Sveinsson on Kastor frá Garðshorni á Þelamörk raced across the finish line with a time of 5.64 seconds, securing the win. His teammates followed closely, with Eyrún Ýr Pálsdóttir and Friðsemd frá Kópavogi in second place at 5.76 seconds, and Árni Björn Pálsson and Ögri frá Horni I in third at 5.85 seconds. Topriter won the team competition in flying pace with full house or 60 points!  INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION 2025 After the Flying Pace, anticipation was high as the points were tallied to see if the standings would shift. Ásmundur, who had led before the pace race, unfortunately did not score in the flying pace, which proved costly. With Eyrún's excellent performance in the pace race, earning her 10 points, she secured the overall individual victory with 53 points, becoming the champion of Meistaradeild Líflands 2025. Eyrún Ýr had a fantastic and consistent season, earning points in all but one event. Just two points behind her was Ásmundur Ernir with 51 points. Ásmundur also had a successful season with the most wins—three in total—but not scoring in any pace events proved costly. Only half a point behind Ásmundur was Þorgeir Ólafsson with 50.5 points, rounding out the top three in the individual competition after an intensely competitive season. TEAM COMPETITION 2025 The team competition in Meistaradeild Líflands 2025 was fiercely contested throughout the season, with the final outcomes decided at the last tournament. After an exhilarating evening filled with suspense, the riders from Sumarliðabær secured the team victory with 323 points. The competition was so tight that only six points separated them from the next team, Topreiter, who made a strong showing in the Flying Pace with maximum points but ultimately fell short. Hjarðartún closely followed in third place with 313.5 points, maintaining pressure on the top spots until the end. The strength, focus, and team work of the Sumarliðabær team made the crucial difference. They demonstrated consistency throughout the season and rose to the occasion when it mattered most, clinching the victory.
Meistaradeild Líflands 2025 concluded with a bang - a full house, electrifying atmosphere, and riders giving their all and showing once again that Meistaradeild is one of the strongest competitions in the Icelandic horse world today. Now begins the anticipation for the next season, and it will be hard to top the energy, boldness, and team spirit we’ve witnessed throughout this winter. Eyrún Ýr Pálsdóttir currently leads the individual rankings, but close behind her is Aðalheiður Anna Guðjónsdóttir with 40 points, followed by Ásmundur Einar Snorrason with 39 points and Þorgeir Ólafsson with 33.5 points. The team competition is equally thrilling. Team Sumarliðabær leads with 240.5 points, but just one point behind them are two teams tied at 239.5 – Hjarðartún and Topreiter. Following them is Team Ganghestar/Margrétarhof with 218 points. With two competitions taking place on the final night, there are still plenty of points up for grabs, and the final results of Meistaradeild Líflands Cha 2025 are wide open! The pace tournament in Meistaradeild Líflands began with Gæðingaskeið (PP1) that proved to be an exciting event, with a notable number of successful sprints considering the time of year. Árni Björn Pálsson claimed a confident victory on Álfamær frá Prestsbæ with a score of 8.75. Konráð Valur Sveinsson on Kastor frá Garðshorni á Þelamörk took second place with 8.42, and Þorgeir Ólafsson on Mjallhvít frá Sumarliðabæ 2 came third with 7.96.  After the Gæðingaskeið (PP1), it was time for the 150m pace race. Following a thrilling final run, Hans Þór Hilmarsson and Vorsól frá Stóra-Vatnsskarði took the win with a time of 14.51 seconds. Eyrún Ýr Pálsdóttir on Sigurrós frá Gauksmýri secured second place with 14.59 seconds, and Þórarinn Ragnarsson on Bína frá Vatnsholti took third with 14.61 seconds.  In the team competition, Team Top Reiter won the Gæðingaskeið (PP1) with 58 points, while Team Hjarðartún secured the win in the 150m pace with 53 points. Team Sumarliðabær still leads overall with 240.5 points, but close behind are Top Reiter and Hjarðartún, both with 239.5 points, tied for second and third place.  There is great excitement in both the individual and team competitions. Ásmundur Ernir Snorrason, who had held the lead until now, is currently in third place with 39 points. Aðalheiður Anna is in second with 40 points, and Eyrún Ýr Pálsdóttir has climbed into first place with 43 points.

The top two competitors were separated by the slimmest of margins in scores: Ásmundur Ernir Snorrason on Hlökk frá Strandarhöfði and Aðalheiður Anna Guðjónsdóttir on Flóvent frá Breiðstöðum. Ásmundur Ernir and Hlökk frá Strandarhöfði delivered a highly powerful and magnificent performance, earning the highest score of 8.43. Aðalheiður and Flóvent secured second place with a score of 8.40. In third place were Ragnhildur Haraldsdóttir and Úlfur frá Mosfellsbæ, scoring 8.07.  The highest-scoring team of the evening was Ganghestar/Margrétarhof, represented by Aðalheiður Anna Guðjónsdóttir, Ragnhildur Haraldsdóttir, and the wild card Bergur Jónsson. The team competition is still led by Sumarliðabær with 176.5 points, followed by Hjarðartún in second place with 155.5 points, and Ganghestar/Margrétarhof in third with 150.5 points. With four disciplines remaining, there are still plenty of points left in the pot.  The evening was filled with outstanding performances, and it was incredible to witness the skills on display and how well-prepared both riders and horses were. Many spectators made their way to Ingólfshvoll to watch the event, with Hydroscand Iceland offering free admission to the stands. They then delivered a secure performance in the finals, earning the gold medal with a score of 8.12. This was a crucial win for Ásmundur, who has now taken the lead in the individual competition with 19 points.  In second place was Arnhildur Helgadóttir on Frosti frá Hjarðartúni, while Helga Una Björnsdóttir on Ósk frá Stað secured third place. Both riders competed for Team Hjarðartún, which was the highest-scoring team of the evening with 53.5 points. Jakob Svavar Sigurðsson and Hrefna frá Fákshólum also represented the team, finishing just outside the A-finals.  Ásmundur now leads the individual standings, followed by Aðalheiður in second place with 18 points, and Jón Ársæll Bergmann in third with 13.5 points. In the team competition, Sumarliðabær holds the top position with 84.5 points, followed by Hjarðartún with 76 points, and Hrímnir/Hest.is in third place with 69.5 points.

They had a rather even and good performance and were outstanding in canter. They received a score of 8.03. Second place went to Jón Ársæll Bergmann and Halldóra frá Hólaborg with a score of 7.60, and in third place was Eyrún Ýr Pálsdóttir and Drangi frá Steinnesi with a score of 7.53.
The team competition was won by the Sumarliðabær team with 49 points. The riders for Sumarliðabær were Jón Ársæll Bergmann, Þorgeir Ólafsson, and Védís Huld Sigurðardóttir. Second place went to the Hrímnir/Hest.is team with 39.5 points, and third place went to the Hestvit/Árbakki team with 38 points. Congratulations to the riders and team owners!   The incredible season of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024 is now over and the winter has been really fun and often extremely exciting. The final event was held yesterday when there was a competition in Tölt T1 and Speedpace. Páll Bragi Hólmarsson and Vísir frá Kagaðarhóli won the tölt after exciting and great A-finals. Next it was the Speedpace. Many of the fastest combinations in Iceland were registered and one could prepare to see a very fast runs through the arena. Árni Björn Pálsson and Ögri frá Horni I were the fastest and won the speedpace quite safely! HERE you can see the results of Tölt T1. HERE you can see the results of Speedpace. Then it was time for what everyone had been waiting for - to count the points of the evening and find put who had most points in the individual and team competition of Meistaradield Lífands 2024. Before the evening, Glódís Rún led the individual competition and team Ganghestar/Margrétarhof the team competition. After the tölt, Glódís kept her lead and team of Hestvit/Árbakki had reached the top of the team competition. Before the pace there was little difference between the best riders and teams and there was a lot of excitement about who would emerge as winners! With his victory in the speedpace, Árni Björn went from fourth place to first and thereby secured the victory in the individual competition of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024! After the team victory in Speedpace, team Hestvit/Árbakki secured their position at the top and are therefore the winners of the team competition of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024! The board of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024 would like to congratulate the riders on their success in the league this winter. We are extremely pleased with the cooperation with the riders and team owners and would like to thank everyone who participated in the league in one way or another. After an exciting tölt competition at the final competition held on, Friday 12th April, it was the Speedpace through the arena that was last event of the league. There was amazing pace horses registered for the competition and after the first run almost all combinations got a valid time. Árni Björn Pálsson and Ögri frá Horni I led after the run sprint with the time 5.73. There seemed to be more trouble for the riders in the second round and no one managed to improve Árni Björn's time. He therefore emerged as the winner of the Speedpace of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024. In second place was Gústaf Ásgeir and Sjóður frá Þóreyjarnúpi with the time 5.81 and Guðmar Þór Pétursson was in third place with the time 5.82.  Team Árbakki / Hestvit once again won the team competition quite safely this time with 49 points. They had all their riders in the top 10. It was Gústaf Ásgeir, Jóhanna Margrét and Glódís Rún who competed for the team.  The final event of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024 was on Friday 12th of April. There was a competition in Tölt T1 and speedpace. The evening began with the preliminary round in Tölt T1. The preliminaries were extremely strong and you could see some really impressive performances. It was Páll Bragi Hólmarsson and Vísir frá Kagaðarhóli who were the last pair in the preliminaries and they managed to get the first place after the preliminaries. They held that lead until the end and emerged as winners in Tölt T1 of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024 with a score of 8.83! In second to third place were two riders equal, Gústaf Ásgeir Hinriksson riding Assa frá Miðhúsum and Árni Björn Pálsson riding Kastanía frá Kvsitum with a score of 8.50.  It was then team Árbakki / Hestvit who won the team competition with 41.5 points. They had two of their riders in the finals, Gústaf Ásgeir and Glódís Rún but here you can see them along with their teammates Pierre, Jóhanna Margrét and Fredrica, obviously satisfied with their performances in the tölt. Árni Björn and Kastanía frá Kvistum, last year's Tölt champions, are also registered this year, and we can expect a strong performance from them. Two combinations could secure an auction spot for the Tölt: Bergur Jónsson and Ljósálfur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum, as well as Fredrica Fagerlund and Stormur frá Yztafelli. This is a good addition to an already impressive starting list.

After a thrilling final sprint, Gústaf Ásgeir Hinriksson and Sjóður frá Þóreyjarnúpi emerged as the winners with a time of 14.18 seconds.  The pace competition of the Meistaradeild Líflands took place at Brávellir in Selfoss earlier today. Konráð Valur Sveinsson started by securing victory in the pace test with Kastor frá Garðshorni á Þelamörk, scoring 8.24. In second place were Jóhann Ragnarsson and Þórvör frá Lækjarbotnum with a score of 8.04, followed by Árni Björn Pálsson and Álfamær frá Prestsbæ in third place with a score of 7.92. Hinrik Bragason and Trú frá Árbakka claimed fourth place with a score of 7.83, while fifth place went to Daníel Gunnarsson and Strákur frá Miðsitju, scoring 7.79. Rounding out the competition in sixth place were Sigurður Sigurðarson and Tromma frá Skúfslæk, scoring 7.68. The competition for the evening was Gæðingalist, and spectacular performances were anticipated. Five wildcards were registered and there was great excitement about their identities. While many expected to see last year's winner, Olil Amble, it was instead Bergur Jónsson for Sumarliðabær/Þjóðólfshagi, Arnhildur Helgadóttir for Hrímnir/Hest.is, Guðmunda Ellen Sigurðardóttir for Top Reiter, Elin Holst for Hjarðartún, and Þórarinn Eymundsson for Pula/Austurkot who appeared. Their presence certainly added to the excitement of the evening, with all these impressive riders competing. Incredible performances could be witnessed from all riders. Ragnhildur Haraldsdóttir and Úlfur frá Mosfellsbæ led the competition for a considerable duration with a score of 8.13. However, Aðalheiður Anna Guðjónsdóttir and Flóvent frá Breiðstöðum delivered a truly impressive and well-executed presentation, catapulting themselves to the top and emerging as the winners of the Gæðingalist of Meistaradeild Líflands 2024. In second place were Ragnhildur and Úlfur frá Mosfellsbæ, followed by Jakob Svavar Sigurðsson and Skarpur frá Kýrholti with a score of 7.80. Glódís Rún Sigurðardóttir and Breki frá Austurási, along with Elin Holst and Frami frá Ketilsstöðum, shared fourth-fifth place with a score of 7.73, while Ásmundur Ernir Snorrason and Hlökkur frá Strandarhöfði secured sixth place with 7.57 points. As there were no finals, the scores from the preliminaries determined the rankings.
